I do not understand what Ombudsman is trying to imply. Are you happy or unhappy about Dems taking up the house? We don't know what they''ll do but I definitely feel hopeful about it. Infact it was the dreaded house where everything stopped in the past. Two times in the past senate okayed bills with legal immigration and were voted down by members of ultra conservative right wing Republicans. I am sure anything will be better than the old house.

Why should they stop coming on to the forums and discuss things? Will those same people stop coming to the forum and post a question, if they have a looming personal immigration issue. On a public forum, there are gonna be rants and raves. You gotta have your opinion and let the other person rant and rant.. It lies in our thinking.

just changed job and Sep 18th was my first day at new job. Because of some silly mistakes of paralegal from previous company I have to restart my GC journey from scratch ...:(. Actually I do not need GC just need EAD for my wife.
Contribution til date:
1> Introduced 4-5 friends and they are now IV members ..
2>I tried to motivate friends to participate in rally who really wants to settle down here(Due to family reason I am not planning to settle down in US.).
3>I have been in constant touch with my senator Mr. Kohl(from WI) and his Immigration department. (His immigration department helped me a lot for my mom's visitor visa.)

People just don't want to soil their hands in cleaning their house but want others to do it for them.
Lot of people consider it below dignity to do something about GC related stuff, many just want to live they way they are, no ambitions, no motivation to work towards a change.

There is no minimum number of weekly hours for an H1B petition. There are some H1B workers who hold several part-time positions. They have to do those work anyway. Because all the applications are not I-485 and also some ppl filed I-140 along with I-485. So, they do have to repackage those applications. Let us see,how events develops for couple of more days?.

I guess (just by reading posts on IV) one point which came out pretty clearly was that IV has good support in some regions and really very little support in some others (support as in visible support, where people are willing to show up for rallies, contribute to IV�s efforts etc), I guess this pretty much means that we need to focus on building the regional chapters of IV, like have strong/formal leadership and goals of each of the chapters.

Agree with you 100%. Instead of 'forming' state chapters in the last moment, they need to be established, nourished, strengthened and developed over a period of time. A grassroots movement needs strong roots in all regions.
I was also thinking that we can possibly learn a lot from the protests by undocumented immigrants. They had record turnouts in their rallies and most of their people stayed away from work to take part in the efforts when ever there was a call for the same.
With all due respect, it was a disaster. They ended up scaring Americans - by holding Flags of thier countries, holding US flag upside-down or disrespecting US flag in other ways. This provided fodder to anti-immigrants to scare Americans of an 'invasion' of law-breaking aliens.
We need to learn lessons from them, in not committing their mistakes
Some of the advantages of having simultaneous local rallies is that
1) No travel expenses � (So that we can spend more money on media and lobbying than travel expenses)
There was a Free Bus from NY/NJ. Yet, how many came?
2) No need to time spent on travel � ( Better turnouts)
How many people from DC participated?
3) Comfort � every one can just go to a local rally point (Better turnouts)
Those seeking 'comfort', will choose it at home. What better comfort than to sleep on a couch and watch TV?
4) Stronger regional chapters � (work at grass root levels)
If wishes were horses...
As of now, idea doesn't look good. 10 people marching in Detroit, 20 in Minneapolis, 40 in New York, 100 in California - will it even be a rally, in the true sense?

Just a quick update I efiled on Sept 22nd 2009. Was assigned to LIN, Nebraska. Sent supporting documents the next day by first class mail. Received 2 copies of advance parole in the mail yesterday. Checked online this morning case was approved on October 2nd 2009. So basically from filing online to approval took 10 days total. I am amazed.

I think if USCIS start publishing the number of applications (based on PD of course) pending for each month, then we can predict our future and life will be much easier.
We are not asking for too much and I think IV can make it happen fairly easily.

I am glad that you received the notice. It can be a result of either manual fault or imputting wrong application numbers.
