Here is my story
July 2nd - Wife and I applied for 485\EAD\AP
The lawyer sent a single check(I know !!! I know !!!)
Our applications got separated.
Mine came back on Aug 30th and my wifes last week
We have now refiled
This time it has gone for "special handling"-bypassing the mail room
I haven't got the receipt yet
Anyone who had a similar experience or went via special handling for some other reason...
How long does it take to get the receipt nowadays ?
(I couldn't see any receipt update on USCIS- I guess most of the people are past that stage)
Will special-handling speed up my Receipt OR EAD OR AP?

Hi,
I am confused with AP expiration date.
The printed exiration date is :July 29, 2009
But my latest paroled stamp on AP it is : Dec 05, 2009.
Which date should i follow to renew my AP?

Go by original printed exiration date. Someone confused with this . He has to reapply for the green card.

Dude / Dudette.. I dont work for MSFT but the general thing is .. wait for 180 calender days post your I485 and make a move using AC21. You don't have any provisions to move with AC21 anyways. Take it easy.

I think it takes a week or 10 days to get the receipt and it should have your case number

Hi,
I have a relative who is trying to obtain an F1 visa from Dubai where he works as a script writer. He is trying to go to the US to study broadcasting and get only an associate degree so it can help him in his career..so I have few questions:
1- Will it be helpful and can he mention in his interview at the US embassy that he will be writing scripts to his company(which he gets paid for) while being in the US?
2- Does he need an f1 visa if he tries to apply to a vocational school? or does he need another type of visa for the vocational school?

Here is my situation. greatly aprecite if you could give some suggestions.
I am presently on Non-cap H1b(which is not counted under cap). I am planning to file for H1b thru an employer in april under MS quota with a start date of octber 2008.
My concerns are...
1. How should the new employer file H1b so that I can join at my wish after oct 2008...??
2. My present H1b is valid untill 2010. SHould I be in US while filing and untill my new H1b is approved..??? I ahve plans of visisitng india in March/aprial. So wondering If i need to visit and be back before april or is it ok to travel while my new H1b is filed using the presnet i-94..?? that is trvelling sometime In april/May..???

Yes, as long as the new job is same/similar to job B. The 180 days count is number of calendar days i-485 is pending, not number of days on the job. One may not even be working at all during that 180 days, or even while waiting for i-485 approval however, must have a very good excuse because IOs will be very suspicious. It is not violating any rules though as i-485 is for future employment.

Below is my current GC & H1-B status
1. Have an approved I-140 with my current employer. Waiting to file I-485.
2. Pending H1-B extension petition based on approved I-140
I'm looking to move from engineering to marketing with the same employer. I know I have to refile labor and I-140 and claim the PD based on the already approved I-140. Can I move to marketing from engineering? The job responsibilities are totally different and my current H1-B extension petition is for engineering position only. I need to file for a H1-B amendment based on the new marketing position.
Will i be able to move smoothly within my current company. If not what will be some roadblocks? Any advice or insights is highly appreciated

I am working for a MNC and I got L1 visa stamped. After marriage I got my H4 visa stamped.(After L1 stamping) But the Visa officials have not marked the L1 visa cancelled in the passport, does it mean that the Visa is still valid? Does that mean that i can still travel on my L1 visa?

I am an EB3 (rest of the world) -
My I485 has a receipt date of 7/24/2007.
The processing date TSC is showing is 7/16/2007.
When my date comes up inside the Processing dates range, will the category be relevant for the approval? I am asking this question because I have a friend that is an EB2 and a receipt date of Sept 2007, and got his GC on December 2007...
If the categories are relevant, how can we monitor the process (the processing dates then become irrelevant)...
